Torringtons football team made it to a playoff states game on December 3rd against Masuk. The team had a very impressive season with an overall 9-1 record before the game. They gave a good effort against Masuk, and both offensive and defense made them work for their points, it was defiantly a game to watch
“The score (41-0) did not reflect the game.” Says senior varsity starter Mikey Ahoua. He also stated that, “I feel like it was a different atmosphere since the last time we went, it was more stressful, we were not in the right mindset.” THS football hasn’t made a playoff game since Ahouas freshman year, so this was a big accomplishment for the team.
Nick Coleman, sophomore who started defense at the states game, states “Masuk is in the SCC conference league which is more competitive, giving them more experience in tough situations like this game.”
The team may have lost the playoff game but this isn’t it for the THS raiders football team, they are set up well for next year. “We can carry this good season into next year because I think the seniors are leaving a lasting impact on the team in a positive light that will leave us to be good in years to come.” Coleman says.
