The Valentine’s Day Dance is underway and with it being the first dance in the new school people are excited to see how the junior student council will decorate the space.
THS dances have been very well decorated in the past, typically with balloons, streamers, backdrops, and wall decorations. These types of decorations might be harder to use due to restrictions.
Current restrictions are that they cannot put things on the walls or hang anything from the ceiling. The junior class advisor Mrs. Costa stated that their biggest challenge would be creativity, “figuring out how to decorate when we can’t really decorate.” But she also says that she is “Curious to see what they can do.”
“Balloons, balloons, balloons.” emphasizes Kajeda Fraser, junior student council representative, “[They’ve] opted with using decorations that can stand alone to better adhere to the restrictions.”
The new cafeteria is smaller than the old one but has tall ceilings and is very open, because of this having most of the decorations off the walls and ceilings doesn’t seem like the most optimal choice but it’s what they have to do in order to comply with the school’s rules.
And although they are allowed to put things up on the beams between the windows they have decided to leave that space alone because they cannot draw on the windows like we could in the old school. Kajeda also stated that “Despite all of the new changes, [she is] confident the Junior Student Council can pull this dance off.”
