New School Space, Old School Jams: Valentine’s Dance a Success!

Lighting issue doesn’t dampen the fun

Friday, February 14 marked the first dance in the new THS space. Creative use of the cafeteria columns and large window spaces helped the decorating, and the photo backdrops were a big success. A mix of current songs and throwbacks was well received by everyone present and added good variety. Click through the gallery below for pictures of the event:

The biggest issue faced was lighting. Per the THS janitors, the hallway lights are on a sensor that cannot be adjusted. The result? The cafeteria was dark, but the hallway lights threw off the vibe. Mr. Scott came up with some good ideas to block those lights. There was not time to make it happen Friday, but the Junior Student Council members are prepared for homecoming in the fall of 2025.

Despite this challenge, spirits were high and the majority of guests stayed until the end. “It was way better than homecoming,” said one junior who attended the dance. The biggest hit was the sound system in the cafeteria, which really improved the quality of the music.
