For senior Kel Camara, track isn’t just a sport, it’s a mindset.
Every time he steps onto the track, Camara carries a vision in his head: winning the race, pushing past limits, making history for the team. As his senior season amps up, he has one major goal in mind: to become the NVL boys champion and break the school record before he graduates.
Kel specializes in the 4x100m, 110m hurdles, and 300m hurdles, and he’s been chasing faster times all season long. His personal bests are a 15.27 in the 110m hurdles and a 43.34 in the 4x100m are proof of how far he’s already come, but for him, it’s about more than numbers, it’s about constantly finding ways to be better.
Before every meet, you’ll find Kel headphones on, listening to G Herbo and picturing exactly how he wants the race to go. Visualization, focus, and hard work have become his formula for success which is all tied back to a simple but powerful lesson he lives by: “Be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
After graduation, Kel isn’t stopping. He’s headed to Central Connecticut State University to study Exercise Science, and yes, he’ll still be hitting the track, competing at the college level. For Kel, this is just the beginning of a journey, and one that started on the THS track.
