Torrington High School marked the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a ceremony in the school auditorium on Thursday. JROTC cadets and the concert choir led the program, which honored both the victims and the first responders who lost their lives.
The annual remembrance is typically held on the THS football field, but ongoing construction at the school moved the event indoors this year. Only seniors were able to attend in person, while the ceremony was live streamed for the rest of the student body.
The choir opened with the national anthem before JROTC Corps Commander Nic Borja delivered a speech reflecting on the tragedy and the importance of remembrance. Principal Brian Scott concluded the ceremony with remarks recognizing the lives lost and the resilience shown in the aftermath of the attacks.
