Lola’s Bagels: A Fresh Taste in Town

An honest review on the NEW bagel shop in Torrington

Lola’s Bagels is now open in Torrington! The bagel shop is located at 1053 East Main Street. After months of waiting and anticipation, the shop opened last Thursday, September 16. I decided to give it a try on their second day of business, Friday.

Given that it was only their second day, there was a small line. Despite that, the service was fast, and our food was out in less than 10 minutes. They had a wide variety of bagel flavors along with several cream cheese options. Some of the bagel choices include plain, everything, French toast, blueberry, whole wheat, rainbow, garlic, and more. The full menu is listed below.

I decided to try the rainbow bagel, which is essentially just a plain bagel with a pop of color! For a beverage, I chose the raspberry refresher, which had a slight fizz and lots of flavor. My dad also tagged along for the trip, and he tried the plain bagel and a regular iced coffee with chocolate Milano flavoring. The iced coffee was definitely sweet, so if you like your coffee darker, I’d recommend asking for less flavoring if you choose to add any. However, I really enjoyed his iced coffee, it tops the chain options around town by far.

The bagels had a great flavor, though I do wish they had a slightly crisp top since the bagels were mostly very soft. For example, Toney’s Coffee Express in Thomaston has bagels with the perfect balance between soft and lightly crunchy. Lola’s also doesn’t skimp on the cream cheese—my bagel was loaded with it. While I know some people enjoy that, I personally didn’t. At least now I know to ask for less cream cheese next time.

The atmosphere inside is very nice and clean. There are only three tables, each seating four people. However, most customers were in and out pretty quickly, which freed up seats often. The aesthetic was modern and simple, yet it still felt homey and welcoming.

Overall, Lola’s Bagels is definitely a spot worth trying. It beats the chains around town by far. I’ll definitely be returning to sample more bagel and drink options. I’m excited to see them grow as a business and wish them all the best!
