M. McGillicuddy
"Plant Grant" allows Mrs. McGillicuddy's UCONN ECE ERTH1501 class to deliver living plants to receipients at THS.
give students the opportunity observe real-life biological processes like photosynthesis, transpiration, germination, and growth
let students can use them to design investigations in horticulture (light, water, soil, fertilizer, pH, gravity effects, etc.);
support biology, chemistry (nutrient cycles, photosynthesis equations), physics (light and energy), Earth science, and environmental science courses;
have the plants serve as living models for genetics, ecology, and life cycles;
and, reinforce topics like ecosystems, carbon cycle, oxygen production, and human impact on the environment.
