Torrington High School Band and Orchestra Director, Wayne Splettstoeszer, has been nominated as a Music Teacher of Excellence from the Country Music Association Foundation.
According to the CMAF, the Music Teachers of Excellence program is their “commitment to the music teachers who exemplify excellence in the field.” Honorees receive a monetary award and are invited to participate in a year of professional development and engagement with CMA’s broader network.
This is not Splettstoeszer’s first such nomination. In 2022, he was a semifinalist for a GRAMMY Music Educator Award. He has also been honored as an NFHS Outstanding Music Educator Award recipient, and Torrington Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow, Teacher of the Year by Torrington Public Schools and Connecticut Music Educators Association, and National Technology Teacher of the Year by the Technology Institute for Music Educators.
Splettstoeszer is in his 28th year as Director of Instrumental Music and Music Technology at Torrington High School, Connecticut. Since 2000, Torrington Public Schools have been honored 24 times as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education in America.”
