Although off to a slow start, the girls volleyball team is turning it around. The team has been working very hard on improving their skills and their team dynamic
The girls volleyball team currently holds a 3-8 record. During Torrington’s most recent home game on September 27th against Crosby, the varsity team won all three sets. The head/varsity coach, Nina Ferrante states how she feels about this year’s varsity team, saying “The varsity team has been working on their cohesiveness and solidifying a rotation after losing seniors from last season. Overall the varsity squad has faced challenging opponents and has faced a good fight against all of them.” From the beginning of the season to now, each player has shown growth as players on the court and as teammates. A senior varsity player stated, “We have our good days and our bad days, we are always working hard towards our goals but sometimes we fall short. I love playing with my team and my coaches and I am excited to see what this season brings for me.”(Anonymous)
Not only has the varsity teams seen a ton of growth from the beginning of the season, but the JV and freshman team as well. JV coach Connor Sullivan stated, “This year the JV squad has gone through a bit of rebuilding. We have had a lot of growing to do together as a team and they are continuing to show a lot of improvement.” Overall both the JV and varsity team are facing similar challenges, but are working hard to maintain a positive outlook for the duration of the season. Players also feel similarly, with one player stating, “This is one of my better seasons as a player, I think our team is improving a lot and even though our record isn’t so great every game has been very close.” (Anonymous)
