Saint Patrick’s Day is coming up on the 17th which means we must capture the leprechauns before they can prank us. If we’re prepared, those little guys will never see it coming… And if captured they usually will grant you three wishes in exchange for their freedom.
To catch a leprechaun you first need to get the bait. Leprechauns are attracted to gold/treasure, anything green, shiny things, sweet treats, rainbows and four leaf clovers.
- For gold make a trail leading to your trap, this can be done with chocolate coins or gold painted cardboard.
- For green use green foods like green m&ms or a green dessert, or just decorate with anything green.
- For rainbows you can just put them near your trap, like as the form of stickers or drawn on your box.
- For four leaf clovers you can use them to decorate, real, drawn, or stickers.
To use the bait you do what I said with the gold and make a trail leading to your trap. Make sure to decorate your trap with lots of green, rainbows and four leaf clovers.
Now for the actual trap here’s the steps to make two different types:
Type 1- box and stick trap- take a box, decorate it like suggested and prop it up with a stick. The key is to put treasure all around the box, the most being inside the box so it lures the leprechauns in. When they walk in, knock over the stick and boom! You’ve just caught yourself a leprechaun.
Type 2 – box and hole trap- take a box and decorate as suggested but this time you want your box to be closed, make a trail leading to it as well as a way to get on top of the box. Cut a hole in the top of the box and disguise it or cover it with gold tissue paper. Surround the hole with treasure, that way the leprechaun will see the treasure, try to get it and fall into the cleverly disguised hole.
