On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Torrington High School’s Principal, Mr. Scott, received recognition at the Connecticut Arts Administrators Association for his contributions to Arts Education.
The 2025 CAAA Arts Education Advocates Breakfast was held at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, CT. Each year, they recognize outstanding individuals who have worked hard to support and assist the success of their arts programs. The CAA also assists these responsible individuals in providing the ability for students to receive high-quality arts education and support.
Principal Mr. Scott has shown much dedication and support to the education of all students at THS. “His leadership has consistently championed creative programs, student engagement, and inclusive opportunities across the school community,” says Mr. Splettstoeszer, the band teacher at Torrington High School.
Mr. Scott’s compassion and generosity has not gone unnoticed. Many students recognize and appreciate the hard work he has put into the school community and the care he has for every student and program. “He shows a sort of empathy towards people who do theater and art and likes to go to every event possible that has to do with the arts,” states senior Giovanni Quinones, a prominent member of the Thespians Club.
Mr. Scott doesn’t only watch and support the arts education, but he has had involvement with the arts himself. Senior Kayla Kelley, the band major at THS, has also recognized his significant involvement: “He has done some guitar and has some paintings of his own so it’s good to see him not only be able to commend students but to be able to relate to them.”
If you pass Mr. Scott in the halls, be sure to congratulate him for his recognition of his amazing character and thank him for all he has done for the Torrington High School community!
