The newly founded Science National Honors Society held their induction ceremony on September 26th, marking the official start of the group’s journey towards scientific innovation and community.
The ceremony featured guest speaker Professor Gusky from Connecticut State Community College who discussed the value of networking in communication and brainstorming. The night concluded with a colorful titration used to symbolize the success that is possible when great minds work together.
Senior Ainslee Campbell, a NSHS member, explained the goals of the new society. “In the first few weeks of operations, our society intends to plan fundraisers, events, and invite scientists in the community to speak at our meetings.”
The club’s first official meeting took place on Tuesday October 1st and was used as a short introduction to the chapter’s expectations and bylaws. The meeting also served as a means for officers to become familiarized with their responsibilities as leaders. The groups next meeting is slated to be on 15th of this month and will feature the first officer lead-lecture of the year. Members of the SNHS are encouraged to interact with the presentation by forming questions and opinions as they actively listen.
