November 11, 2024, THS held a Veterans Day ceremony. The JROTC and The Color Guard helped with presentations, and the overall event.
The ceremony was held down in the THS gymnasium, to celebrate the veterans in our community. Only certain classes attended. Lieutenant Charles Coulouras stated, “The ceremony is not mandatory, only for those teachers and classes that want to attend. It was also made available by live-stream by our IT folks.”
Coulouras is glad for the live-stream, but wishes more would attend in person. “It’s very important for people to show up. It shows our support for all of our veterans who have sacrificed and supported our country, some giving their lives.”
The JROTC and The Color Guard helped with the event, as well as presenting and speaking during it. The Color Guard for Veterans Day was Nick Borja, Chase Elliott, Raiden Tramontano, and Giavanna Conti. The speaker at the event was Jose Martinez.
The group also went to two elementary schools, Vogel-Wetmore and Forbes. “Both elementary schools had wonderful ceremonies that honored veterans from their respective communities,” Coulouras says.
The planning started in September. Overall, the event is just a good way to highlight all the veterans in our community. Coulouras states, “I believe this is a great opportunity to highlight to all TPS students the importance of Veterans Day and showing their support of all veterans.”
