Earlier this week, Torrington High School opened its new doors to students and families during a series of open houses held Monday through Wednesday from 4:50 to 7:00 p.m., offering students a first look at the school’s newly constructed building.

At the open house, students received their second-semester schedule for the 2024-2025 school year, complete with new room numbers. A schedule was provided to guide students to each of their classes, where they would spend 5 minutes meeting with their teacher before a 10 minute period to search for their next classroom. For those who preferred a more flexible approach, students and parents were also welcome to explore the building freely.

Many students and families roamed the halls and familiarized themselves with the spaces they will be walking through in less than two weeks. “There wasn’t anyone showing us around, we just went and found our classes on our own,” says freshman Isabella Murelli.

The event offered students a chance to take in the new and clean look of their soon-to-be school. The modern design and architecture was a favorite for many, “I love the open design of the cafe, as well as the lights,” says sophomore Johanna Stolfi.

The open house succeeded in easing the concerns of students worried about finding their way when they officially start classes in the new building on January 22. In the slideshow, Mr. Scott and several students share their thoughts on the open house and their excitement about the new school.
