Students, parents, and staff were surprised to get a late-night message at 9:56 pm on Thursday, 9/19. “Torrington Public Schools will be CLOSED tomorrow.”
Due to a threat that the administration called “not credible,” a decision was made to cancel school for the district. An email from Assistant Superintendent Susan Fergusson called the decision a result of an “overabundance of caution.” She cited the “emotional stress” a threat could cause for families.
Any school cancellation results in after-school activities also being canceled. The first home football game vs. St. Paul was therefore postponed.
