For the first time in 10 years, the THS Girls Soccer team will be participating in both the Naugatuck Valley League and CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) State tournaments. The team has a current record of 7-7-2, making them 8th in the league.
This achievement means a lot to the players, especially the seniors who have dedicated years to the program. Senior player Avalee Fritch shows excitement and pride towards the upcoming tournaments.
Fritch explains that getting this opportunity “feels great. Making the tournaments was one of our goals this year and I am so proud of everyone that we accomplished it.”
One of the team’s biggest moments came after a 5-0 victory over Derby, which secured their spot in the State Tournament.
Despite the losses faced throughout the season, the team’s determination never wavered. Even after a few tough games throughout their season, Fritch shares that the team’s morale stays high due to their “good team chemistry” and that the team strives to remain positive, always working hard for the results they want.

Looking ahead, the girls hope their success inspires future athletes to keep the momentum going. The 2025 team’s legacy will truly live on in THS athletic history. Fritch hopes that their legacy brings recognition.
“We are a good team and work hard, and I think people should know that.”
