The THS  girls basketball season is officially over. The team has had an amazing season with a 14-5 record in their regular season. There were highs and there were lows but the girls ended strong making it into the second rounds of the CIAC Division III state championships.

This year came with a lot of improvements, the team was ranked first in their division and they’ve had some major wins such as winning their first round of states against Hall Highschool with a score of 40-32.

The team, while prevalent in seniors, has had a major increase in Freshman with a total of  7 new athletes, some even playing varsity.

Piper Battistoni, freshman varsity and jv player states that “Coming into freshman year being at a new school with new people is always nerve racking…Playing on the THS basketball team having supportive coach’s, and seniors to look up to made it so easy to develop both on and off the court

The end of the 2026 season marks the loss of several valuable seniors, some who have been playing since their freshman year. Senior Captain Annabel O’mara led strongly on the court this year making first team all NVL. She says that this year’s team was “Dedicated and energetic”

O’mara believes that her senior teammate and fellow captain Eliana Goodwin was the one to watch this season stating, “not only was she one of the leading scorers but she was also our best re-bounder for the season.”

Eliana wasn’t the only Goodwin on the court this year. Starting point guard Avery Goodwin  was one of the team’s best defenders this season leading the Raiders on the court and keeping control of the game.

Battistoni says that the three of them were the seniors she looked up to most. “Getting the opportunity to play with such talented and passionate girls has made me realize how grateful I am able to have girls like this that i can look up to and always learn something from”

The Raiders worked hard this season and that doesn’t end here. Despite the team losing many valuable seniors the team is also gaining a whole new  generation that is only just beginning. Watch out for these girls on the court next year and congratulate the team for a season to remember.
