Devin Ballard is currently a senior at Torrington High School. He is part of the outdoor and indoor Torrington track and field teams and is a member of the Black Student Union. This school year, he hopes to earn good grades and run well during his track seasons. After he graduates, he plans to attend UConn to study psychology and neurology. Outside of school, he likes to go on runs and hikes. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his dog, Luna. Through the Raider Report, he hopes to make all students feel heard and recognized.
The Torrington High School track and field program has reached an exciting milestone as construction on the All Raiders Track and Field facility is now officially complete. After a long wait, the Raiders are proud to return home and once again host meets on their newly finished track.
This marks a major moment for the program, athletes, and the entire Torrington community. Having a home track not only gives athletes a familiar place to train and compete, but also allows fans, families, and alumni to come together and support the team in a way that hasn’t been possible during construction.
The return to hosting begins with a special event: the 10th Annual Alumni Meet on May 9th. This meet celebrates the legacy of Torrington track and field by bringing together past and present athletes. It’s a chance to honor the program’s history while inspiring the next generation of Raiders.
Later in the month, Torrington will take center stage once again by hosting the NVL Championships on May 23rd. This highly anticipated meet will showcase top talent from across the league and highlight Torrington as a premier venue for track and field competition.
With a new facility and a renewed sense of pride, the future of Torrington track and field is brighter than ever. The Raiders invite the entire community to come out, show their support, and be part of this exciting new chapter.
Come cheer on the Raiders as they make their return home once again.

Thanks for highlighting THS track & field. Please remember that the boys & girls tennis teams have been sharing only two courts for both teams (over 50 kids) in the municipal courts behind Pizza Palace for the past THREE YEARS (!!!), and before that, the tennis courts were separated from the other athletic facilities by the old building and parking lot. Now, we have six beautiful new courts right in the middle of the athletic complex! I encourage everyone to come out and support all of our spring sports here on campus and I am very grateful to everyone who made this possible, especially Mr. McKenna and Mr. Scott. Go, Raiders!
