Torrington High School’s theater program was recognized at the 2026 Connecticut Halo Awards, earning multiple nominations and bringing home a statewide honor for student performer Anthony Loja.
Loja won the Halo Award for Best Standout Performance in a Male Role in an Ensemble Production (Play) for his portrayal of Antipholus of Syracuse in The Bomb-itty of Errors, Torrington High School’s innovative hip-hop adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors.
In addition to Loja’s award-winning performance, THS received nominations in several categories. The production of Bomb-itty of Errors was nominated for Best Contemporary Play. Student technician Xavier Vega was recognized with a nomination for Best Incidental or Original Music in a Play, and technical theater students earned nominations for Best Sound Design and Execution, Best Scenic Design and Execution, and Best Running Crew. Lianna Flores Paulino was also nominated for Best Standout Performance in a Female Role in an Ensemble Production.
Olivia Beauregard earned a nomination for Best Performance in a Leading Female Role in a Classical Musical for her role as Marian Paroo in The Music Man.
The recognition reflects the strength of Torrington High School’s theater program and the dedication of its performers, musicians, technicians, and directors. Competing against schools from across Connecticut, the Raiders demonstrated excellence both on stage and behind the scenes, culminating in a Halo Award victory and numerous statewide honors.
