Nevaeh Henry is a current senior at Torrington High School. She is a member of TOP Club, which stands for Teen Outreach Program, and supports students in making and sustaining positive choices in their daily lives while engaging in their communities. In her free time, she loves either shopping with her friends or family or simply relaxing in bed all day. One of Nevaeh’s passions after high school is to work in the field of speech-language pathology to become a pediatric speech therapist. Nevaeh’s goal this year is to focus on her college career and on making it through senior year.

In the realm of Halloween traditions, Trunk or Treat offers a fun and safer alternative to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. Instead of walking from house to house, participants go from trunk to trunk—each decorated with spooky themes and filled with goodies. The event often includes food stands, decorations, and mini-games on the side.
Trunk or Treat events are usually hosted by local businesses, such as Torrington Ford. It’s a wonderful way for the community to come together and celebrate. Torrington Ford creates a positive atmosphere throughout the event, “making you feel safe and secure,” according to one of the organizers. Margarita Barreto, who helps run Trunk or Treat at Torrington Ford, said, “People should come to Trunk or Treat because it creates a safe, family-friendly, fun atmosphere in a controlled environment.”
Traditional trick-or-treating, on the other hand, involves visiting the homes of unfamiliar individuals, which can make some parents wary about safety. Torrington Ford’s Trunk or Treat events take place on October 24 and 25, from 6–8 p.m. and 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
While trick-or-treating usually ends with a bag full of candy, Trunk or Treat leaves participants with not only candy but also lasting memories. Whether it’s hanging out by the popcorn and cookie stand, playing mini-games like “Spook ’n’ Throw,” grabbing candy from the spooky trunks, or taking costume photos with friends, Trunk or Treat offers a full night of festive fun.
