With the release of Wicked 2, a new chapter unfolds in Oz, greeted with fresh faces and unexpected turns. Wicked 2 is fantastic because it features more characters, which allows for deeper emotions and helps the audience feel more connected to the story, making the film even more enjoyable than the first.
With the release of the first Wicked, we learn about Elphaba’s origin story and how she struggles with being misunderstood because of her green skin. Along with her, we see Glinda’s character development as she befriends Elphaba and begins to change.
Not only that, but we also discover that the Wizard of Oz is a fraud, tricking and lying to the people of Oz for his own gain. He targets Elphaba and manipulates her into creating flying monkeys, which causes the people of Oz to turn against her.
As the curtain fell on Wicked, we were left with a powerful story of friendship, betrayal, and the blurred line between good and evil. But if Wicked already blew our minds, then Wicked 2 was the cherry on top. In Wicked 2, we dive into what happens next, which sets the stage for everything else. The movie also reveals more of the Wizard’s secrets, which takes the story to a whole new level and really shakes things up.
After Elphaba threatens the Wizard of Oz, he creates a scheming plan to go after her. Instead of doing it himself, he forms a team to take Elphaba down, creating tension throughout the movie as the audience wonders what will happen next. What truly ties the movie together are the new characters introduced in Wicked 2. The Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man each have their own plots, with their paths crossing Elphaba’s.
This connectedness makes the plot more engaging because everything fits together in the end, giving the audience a more powerful and appealing experience.

I liked Wicked 2 but I feel like it felt a little bit out of place. But honestly I really liked the songs, especially the certain reprises that are there, it was definitely a fun and engaging experience! I like this article 🙂
