Torrington Schools Theater Arts is pleased to announce its upcoming production of Disney’s Frozen Jr., to be performed in February at the new Torrington Middle and High School Auditorium. This collaborative production brings together students from both the middle and high schools.
Performances will take place on Thursday, February 12, and Friday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at tstap.org or at the door prior to each performance. Ticket prices are $10 for students and children and $15 for adults.
Based on the 2018 Broadway musical, Frozen Jr. brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life on stage. The production features all of the beloved songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with five additional songs written for the Broadway adaptation. A story centered on love, acceptance, and the powerful bond between sisters, Frozen Jr. expands upon the emotional journey of Princesses Anna and Elsa as they face danger, discover their inner strength, and learn the true meaning of family. Filled with magic, adventure, and humor, the show is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
The roles of Young Elsa, Middle Elsa, and Elsa are portrayed by seventh grader Eliana Penaranda, eighth grader Madison Esefani, and ninth grader Olga Romero. Young Anna, Middle Anna, and Anna are played by seventh grader Sofia Quezada, eighth grader Michelle Ahrens, and eighth grader Zolangy Sousa. Freshman Anthony Ferro stars as Prince Hans, while eighth grader Parker Sanderson-Sletner appears as Kristoff. Kristoff’s loyal reindeer Sven is played by seventh grader Cassie Hodgkins, and seventh grader Natalia Medina brings Olaf to life. Additional cast members include Daisy Grant and Jordan Avery as Queen Iduna and King Agnarr; Lucas Idrovo as the Duke of Weselton; Yareli Borja-Tapia and Ediney Marques as Bulda and Pabbie of the Hidden Folk; Mila Hudak, Molly Conway, Abby Spalinger, and Harper Lianos as leaders of the Snow Chorus; and Jaxson Lomax, Carter Flinn, Jaelynn Neal-Soloval, Saralee Relihan, Aurora Marino, Dalilah De la Cruz, Sabrina Sachen, Julianna Chechoski, and Juliana Pena, who perform multiple ensemble roles throughout the production.
The production is directed by Torrington drama teacher Veronica Gelormino, with technical and musical direction by chorus teacher Andrew Skinner. Choreography is led by Sybil Chamberlin, and stage management is overseen by Tara Minnerly. Nearly 20 middle and high school students make up the production crew, including senior Luke Le as Assistant Director, junior Emma Hardwick as Assistant Stage Manager, and Anthony Ferro as Assistant Choreographer. Additional student leaders include Anita Paul (assistant directing), Nathan Pepler (costumes), and Kajeda Fraser (make-up and hair).
