Kajeda Fraser is a current senior attending THS. Kajeda is very active in her school as well as in the Torrington community. She is currently participating in Student Council as Senior Class President, Black Student Union as President, the Model United Nations Club as Ambassador of Finance, and on the Track & Field team. In her community, she volunteers with the YMCA year-round, with the Torrington Youth Service Bureau during Christmas time, and serves on the Mayor’s Committee on Youth as President during the school year. After high school, she plans to attend UCONN in the fall to study finance. In this newspaper, her goal is to write about more worldly topics that will interest the students of THS. In her free time, she enjoys trying out new recipes and reading “Chick Lit.”
Chef Tomm, THS’s Foods teacher, is inviting students, staff, and the community to celebrate Easter. On March 29, there will be a Community Easter Egg Hunt starting at 9:00 am.
Per Chef, “This is a great opportunity to come together as a school community and enjoy a fun-filled morning with activities for all ages.” Community members are funding this event, specficially Jimmy’s Store, Nutmeg Fudge Company, Pizzeria Marzano, and Friendly Hands Food Bank.
The event runs until 1 pm. JROTC Cadets will be helping out, as well as students of the Raider Cafe.
Food will be provided by Pizzeria Marzano’s and Jimmy’s Store. Chef asks participants to “come hungry and enjoy some great local favorites!”
The egg hunts will be staggered by age group throughout the morning, so there will be plenty of opportunities for kids to participate and enjoy the event.
Chef Tomm ran a similar program at Christmas time. Just like that event, he is dedicated to creating positive, community-building events. “We would love to see as many familiar faces there as possible.”
