Torrington High School’s Project Graduation 2026 initiative got a major boost this weekend, with students and volunteers hosting a successful, high-energy car wash that raised over ($300). The event brought together a diverse group of students to raise funds for a safe, alcohol-free post-graduation celebration.
Volunteers made the atmosphere welcoming with music and friendly, quick conversations, even attracting community members who wanted to donate without needing a wash. “It was fun working with my friends while raising money for something good,” said volunteer Kailyn Castillo.
Organized by a dedicated group of parents, the event saw 23 students sign up across two shifts, working hard to provide great service to the community. “We were able to raise just over ($300) toward Torrington High School’s Project Graduation 2026,” reported Tasha Ramos, noting the success of the hard-working crew.
The committee is deeply thankful to Scott, the general manager at the Main Street McDonald’s, for partnering with them by providing a water station for the car wash. Looking toward next year, organizers plan to expand the event’s reach with more town-wide signage, improved social media outreach on “Torrington Chatter,” and increased volunteer recruitment.
Project Graduation is a crucial, free, and safe post-graduation event for THS seniors.
