Torrington High School’s HOSA Future Health Professionals Club attended their first CT Spring Leadership Conference on Friday, March 21st. At the conference, they participated in healthcare related workshops and listened to inspirational speakers who talked about healthcare opportunities and fundraising campaigns.
Matthew Tsai and Olivia Trigonis tried out a Career Displays event to get the feel for HOSA and how the events worked. They researched their topic and created a poster which they presented at the event where they talked about Forensic Toxicologists.
Tsai shares how listening to the interesting speakers was one of his favorite parts of the day: “One of the first summer internship speakers was very entertaining. He had a motivational funny story of how he got stabbed and it was what boosted his career.”
Next, HOSA members plan to get certified in First Aid/CPR around May. Now that they have a better understanding of the club and events, “we hope our members can participate in competitive events and win some awards next year,” says Tsai.
