Although off to a slow start, the girl’s volleyball team is turning it around. The team has been working very hard on improving their skills and their team dynamic
The girls volleyball team currently holds a 3-8 record. During Torrington’s most recent home game on September 27th against Crosby, the varsity team won all three sets. The head/varsity coach, Nina Ferrante is proud of the team’s progress.
“The varsity team has been working on their cohesiveness and solidifying a rotation after losing seniors from last season. [They have] faced a good fight against all of them.”
Ferrante says, from the beginning of the season to now, each player has shown growth as players on the court and as teammates. A senior varsity player stated, “We have our good days and our bad days, [but] we are always working hard towards our goals. I love playing with my team and my coaches.”
Not only has the varsity teams seen a ton of growth from the beginning of the season, but the JV and freshman team have as well. JV coach Connor Sullivan explained that this was a rebuilding year for them, too.
“We have had a lot of growing to do together as a team. They are continuing to show a lot of improvement,” Sullivan praised.
Overall both the JV and varsity team are facing similar challenges, but are working hard to maintain a positive outlook for the duration of the season. One player stated, “This is one of my better seasons as a player. I think our team is improving a lot. Even though our record isn’t so great every game has been very close.”
