“We can’t be satisfied with where we are at, we have to keep working and moving.” – Senior EJ Rivera
Updated: The football advanced their record on Friday, 10/11, with a 35-26 win against Kennedy High School. Dante Latina ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter and Aiden Hansen scored the next three.
Coach Gaiten Rodriguez told CT Insider: “We’ve had different players contribute in all five of our wins, but Aiden came through for us [in this game].”
Kicker Jackson Brewer-Karimi and defensive players Kel Camara and Alex Bush were also highlighted for their performance in the CT Insider article. Check out the team’s latest win here.
Printed 10/10: The THS Raiders football team has been on an amazing 4-0 winning streak. They play Kennedy at home tomorrow, 10/11 at 4:45. They haven’t had this clean sweep record in years.
When asked how he feels about the season so far, Coach Gaitan Rodriguez said, “I feel very, very happy for our athletes, school, and community. It is something the team has been working really hard for.” The team recently took the Derby Red Raiders to a score of 41-7, an amazing night for the team. From MaxPreps News, “Torrington’s defense has only allowed 14 points per game this season, so Kennedy’s offense will have their work cut out for them.” It is hoped that the team can get to a 5 game streak.
Senior starter EJ Rivera feels good about the season coming up. “We can’t be satisfied with where we are at, we have to keep working and moving.” Rivera also stated that part of the team’s success comes from the fact that they can’t get too comfortable where they are and have to push hard this entire season to keep their good record. Rivera feels that the team works especially well together this season. “There is more team chemistry-everybody has a role on the team to help the starting line up be successful.”
Rivera and fellow seniors will be celebrated on November 1st for the football senior night against the Naugatuck Greyhounds.
