The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic, was a breakout opportunity for sophomore Taylor Maiga.
On December 13–14, Torrington High School sophomore Taylor Maiga took on a major role in the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory’s production of the classic The Nutcracker. Maiga was cast as Clara, the story’s main character, marking an impressive achievement for a young dancer.
Performing with the Nutmeg Company places Maiga on a professional stage, where precision, storytelling, and confidence are essential. As Clara, she guided the audience through the magical journey, helping bring the performance to life.
Maiga said being cast in the role was “very rewarding,” noting that “putting so much work into it and finally getting something out of it was great!”
Earning a principal role in such a well-known production reflects the immense effort and dedication Maiga has put into ballet. She has been dancing since she was three, and her love and passion for the art are clearly shown through her being chosen for this role.
Maiga’s role in The Nutcracker is a great accomplishment, not only for her personally but also as a point of pride for Torrington High School. Her teachers and friends are incredibly proud of her and her accomplishments. Great job, Taylor!
