The JROTC Military Ball is a special event that combines tradition, celebration, and fun. It is often described as a mix between prom, a military ceremony, and a team celebration. This event gives cadets the chance to experience the formal side of military customs while also enjoying time with friends.
The first half of the Military Ball focuses on ceremony and tradition. During this part of the event, the color guard presents the flag in the Posting of the Colors, followed by the National Anthem. There are also formal opening remarks that help begin the evening in a respectful way. Sometimes, the ceremony includes a POW/MIA remembrance table, which honors soldiers who were prisoners of war or are missing in action. Awards and recognition may also be given to cadets for their hard work and achievements in JROTC.
The second half of the event is more social and relaxed. Dinner is served, music is played, and everyone gets a chance to dance, take pictures with friends, and spend time talking and enjoying the night. This part of the Military Ball feels similar to prom because it is meant to be fun and memorable.
Even though the Military Ball includes serious military traditions, it is not an overly serious event. It is meant to be enjoyable and gives cadets a chance to celebrate their team and the friendships they have built through JROTC. Overall, it is a fun experience that many people would recommend others attend.
